We decided to support Barack Obama for the democratic presidential primaries by donating to his campaign. This video is a campaign ad made with clips from this 22-minute speech announcing his candidacy and vision for social change. I am also currently reading his book “The Audacity of Hope”.

He’s the best.

Thanks for posting this, I hadn’t seen him before. He seems like a good one.. I hope he doesn’t get discouraged

This gets so tricky because I really love him (and I watched the long speech just for kicks), and he reminds me a lot of Deval Patrick, who I also really respect and admire in terms of vision. But I’ve been waiting for Hillary to run since I was a kid. We should talk more about this.

OBAMA 2008!
Global justice billions crave
Revolution now… the wave.
Fresh solutions far and wide
Peace procurement now…the tide.
On waves and tides of cosmic scale
audacity and hope now sail.
OBAMA 2008!
U. S. poverty must Go.
A conscientious overthrow.
The working poor, the down and out.
Revolution now…the shout.
Vote ones heart … evolve … transcend
the Wisdom Way to comprehend.
VICTORY 2008!
A living wage for one and all.
Resolution now…the call.
Civil rights again restore.
Revolution! … Just once more.
The Common Dream now full force…
a visionary, gutsy course.
OBAMA 2008!
Universal health care, Yes!
Congress HAS it, are WE less?
Equal rights across the board.
Resolution now… the chord.
Americans, a lively blend,
pilot the progressive trend.
VICTORY 2008!
Peaceful revolution, Yes!
The human race to coalesce.
One Creator, over ALL.
One last chance to heed the Call –
Love’s the lesson. Life’s the school.
Peace On Earth. The Golden Rule.
Live the Lesson. Heal our Earth.
… Imagine …
Transformation now. Rebirth!
OBAMA
Refrain:
Spur the people stir the fire
Mobilize and walk the wire.
Back on track and off the dime —
Revolution. One last time.
So amplify the drums and riff.
Be the ANSWER to “What if……?”

I’m glad to see you blogging again. I have not so much insight in US domestic politics, but from informations, from his speeches I feel how wholereatedly social personality Obama is.

Hmmmm … I think it’ll be a great day in the USA when the South elects a black man as their president.
I’m all for fair and open elections, and all that. I’m all for Rainbow people, and I’d love to see ANY minority in the Presidency in the USA.
However, do any of you know about the Skulls and Bones society? There is a small group of elites that has controlled much of the US destiny from the founding of the country. It’s not ‘public knowledge’ on TV or radio, but there are books written all about it.
Same goes for the fact that the KKK is an active force in much of the rural parts of the South — and why? Today’s (asinine) president should be calling the KKK a ‘terrorist group’ and going after them, IMO.
I’d be happy to see Obama in office as President, bc I think he seems to have a vision to unite the Left. Personally, my concern is that he is NOT really Left (just like Clinton wasn’t really Left, but the Bushes made him look REALLY Left by comparison) but that he’s more center-line.
I’m waaaaay Left.
Anyway, my biggest issue w/Democrats is: what is the platform, what are their main issues, and how do they propose to push them through?
The Green Party has a clearly defined platform. I know the Democrats are for National Healthcare, ‘Pro Choice’ (ie pro woman) and against ‘Right to Life’ (which is ‘propaganda doublespeak’ for disempowering women), in favor of Gun Control, aware of Global Warming, and so on, but what about these issues:
What are the Democrats proposals for dealing with:
1) $3 gas costs? What about billion $ profits for oil co’s?
2) free market forced expansion, World Trade Org, and World Bank?
3) Argentina, Venezuela, and Cuba?
4) Iraq occupation, Guantanamo, torture, secret prisons, etc
5) Fox TV & other clear Right Wing Conspiracies ‘taking action’ in American society
6) over-militarized American economy, war culture, Patriot Act
7) corporate and billionaire monopolies
8) tax cuts for the wealthy
9) opening the 2-party system to more parties
I’d like to hear some definitive statements on these topics. Wouldn’t you?
